Controls
Measures to protect workers from workplace hazards by eliminating or minimizing the risk of the hazard to cause harm.
Hazard
Any source of potential damage, harm or adverse health effects to someone or something.
Hazard Identification
A process in which a job, task or a situation is assessed for its potential to cause injury or damage.
Incident
An accident or other occurrence which resulted in or had the potential for causing an occupational injury or illness.
Near Miss
An unplanned event that did not result in occupational injury, illness or property damage but had the potential to do so.
Supervisor
An individual who instructs, directs and controls workers in how they conduct their daily work. Supervisors do not necessarily have this role reflected in their job title (e.g. Charge Nurses, Head Nurses, Coordinators).
