Health Emergency Management BC (HEMBC)
Health Emergency Management BC the provincial agency responsible for providing the health system with emergency management leadership and support to the Health Authorities in BC. It provides the tools and training to help people prepare for and respond to emergencies that can impact the workplace.
Emergency Operations Centres (EOC)
Emergency Operations Centres are the organizational structures used to coordinate and support response activities within a program, site, geographic region, or health authority.
Colour Codes
The emergency procedures used in acute and residential facilities where an emergency response is linked to a particular colour. For example, Code Red is the procedure for fire alarm/fire response.
RACE
Acronym used to identify the actions to take if you discover a fire:
Remove/Rescue anyone in danger
Activate a fire alarm and call 911 or the site emergency number
Contain the spread of smoke/fire
Extinguish/Evacuate
